Terms of Use
These terms govern the use of dupla, the app and the dupla.money website. By creating an account you accept them. They are written to be understood; if anything is unclear, write to us.
dupla is operated by CGIS LLC, 8 The Green, Suite A, Dover, DE 19901, USA. These terms are an agreement between you and CGIS LLC.
1. What dupla is
dupla is an app for managing money as a couple: recording personal and shared expenses, splitting them by the rule you both choose, seeing the balance between the two of you, and setting up budgets, goals and lists. You enter the data yourself. dupla does not connect to banks and does not move money.
2. Your account
- You need your own account, with an email address or a Google or Apple sign-in. Each partner uses their own.
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- You are responsible for what is done with your account and for keeping your access secure.
3. Using it as a couple
- When you pair with someone, you both see and can edit whatever is marked as shared: “Ours” expenses, balances, shared budgets and goals, and each person's income if you chose to split by income.
- What you mark as “Mine” is yours and is not shown to your partner. The server enforces that boundary.
- Either of you can unpair at any time from Settings. Shared data stays with whoever remains in the app; personal data leaves with each person.
- Use dupla with someone who knows they are using dupla with you. It is not meant for recording another person's data without their consent.
4. Your data
Your data is yours. What we store, where, and why is in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. You can export your expenses from the app and delete your account whenever you want.
Voice input. When you add expenses by voice, the recording is sent to DeepInfra (or Groq, when DeepInfra is unavailable), which turns it into text, and that text to Anthropic (or DeepInfra, when Anthropic is unavailable), whose AI model proposes the expenses for you to review. Along with them go today's date, your currency, your and your partner's first names, and your category, payment method and tag names. The recording is deleted as soon as it is processed. By using voice input you agree to this; if you'd rather not, add expenses by hand. Details are in the privacy policy.
5. Subscription
dupla is used by subscription. The price, what it includes and any trial period are shown before you subscribe, in the app and in the store. Billing and renewal are handled by the App Store or Google Play, and from there you can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect from the next period. You will never be charged for something you did not agree to. What you entered remains yours even when the subscription ends: you can export it and delete your account at any time.
6. What dupla is not
- It is not financial, accounting or legal advice. Splits, balances and conversions are calculations over what you entered; check them before making important decisions.
- The dollar exchange rates the app shows come from public sources and are for reference. Each expense keeps the rate of the day it was entered.
- It is not a payment service: “settle up” records that a payment was made; it does not move money.
- Expenses proposed from a voice recording are a draft made by an AI model and can be wrong: check them before saving.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep dupla running at all times, but it is a service under active development: there may be interruptions, and we may change or remove features. Significant changes are announced in the app. If we were to stop offering dupla, we would tell you in advance so you can export your data.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use dupla for anything illegal, to harm the service, or to access data that is not yours. We may suspend accounts that do.
9. Liability
dupla is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from decisions made on the basis of the information in the app, from service interruptions, or from incorrectly entered data. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we update this page and the date above. If the change is significant, we let you know inside the app.
